Dr Eloise – Vetdreloise_profile

Dr Eloise is one of the Love That Pet vets and has worked in Small Animal Practice for 10 years.

As a child, she grew up with a collection of ‘pocket pets’, with rats, mice, hermit crabs, a budgie, guinea pigs and a rabbit taking up residence in her room at various times. Eventually she was allowed her own dog and chose the biggest dog she could think of, a big goofy Newfoundland, who loved to ‘rescue’ people swimming.

Dr Eloise always wanted to be a vet and after spending some years travelling, working in hospitality and customer service, she entered university as a mature age student to complete her Veterinary Science degree in 2006.

What do you love most about your job?

I love that every day is different and every patient has their own personality. I love that I can go from spending time with cuddly puppies to an interesting and challenging surgery, then spend time chatting about a troubling behaviour problem that may be making pet and owner miserable.

Do you have any pets of your own?

I’m currently owned by two cats, a rambunctious young cat with a zest for climbing the curtains and a cuddly old cat I adopted from my vet nursing days. Jimmy was completely bald due to ringworm when he first came into my life and now has a magnificent coat and a majestic, yet gentle personality.

When you’re not working with animals, what are you doing?

I recently completed my first (and possibly one and only) marathon and still enjoy running. I am toying with the idea of a triathlon, if I can ever manage to swim more than 100m. I also love dancing with my husband (mainly in the kitchen nowadays) and doing arts and crafts with my little boys.

What’s your favourite spot in Sydney?

The Royal National Park and the beautiful secluded beaches…followed closely by Love That Pet Darlinghurst!

One interesting fact about you that people probably don’t know?

My secret talent is making 3D cakes for kids birthday parties.
